ขออภัยที่ต้องปล่อยวางเรื่องการเมือง วันนี้ผมไม่อยากได้ยินเสียงหรือเห็นภาพการยื้อยุดฉุดกระชากเข้าจับกุมผู้เข้าร่วมชุมนุมโดยสงบปราศจากอาวุธ เห็นแล้วความดันพุ่ง บางครั้งเครียดจนร่างกายออกอาการ ตอนนำถาดอาหารไปส่งพี่ชายที่ชั้น ๓ แค่ได้ยินเสียงก็ยังอดปี๊ดไม่ได้...

๑๔ ตุลา ปี ๑๖ ช่วงประมาณตอนนี้แหละที่ผมวิ่งอยู่กลางท้องสนามหลวง ท่ามกลางความวุ่นวายสับสน เสียงปืนที่ได้ยินมาจากด้านกรมประชาสัมพันธ์และภาพผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งล้มลง แม้ผ่านมาเกือบ ๕ ทศวรรษ ทุกวันนี้มันก็ยังไม่ถูกลบออกจากสมองอันเหนื่อยล้าของผม ผมไม่อยากพูดถึงมัน ไม่อยากเห็นเหตุการณ์เช่นนั้นอีก

ต้องขอหลัก 3 wise monkeys เป็นที่พึง วิกิพีเดียกล่าวว่า...

The three wise monkeys are a Japanese pictorial maxim, embodying the proverbial principle "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". The three monkeys are Mizaru, who sees no evil, covering his eyes; Kikazaru, who hears no evil, covering his ears; and Iwazaru, who speaks no evil, covering his mouth.

ในหนังสือ "Every Inch of the Way; My Bike Ride Around the World" หน้า ๑๙ Tom Bruce เขียนไว้ว่า...

Halfway along the reservoir we met a German lady; at a guess she was in her seventies, riding a bike with far more gear attached than I had and almost as quickly. She was clearly incredibly fit and was soon telling us stories of places she had been. She didn’t have a home and lived on her bike, but it didn’t seem as though she was forced to do so; it was choice to live that way because she said she had money. On her bike rack, she carried a large tent and two sleeping bags to make it look like she had company every night for security. I pondered her lifestyle for a few hours after we left her and thought it must be very lonely. Although I was very much enjoying cycle touring, she was a permanent cyclist living in a bubble on her own, away from society and the ‘real’ world. I wondered what she had left behind. That lifestyle definitely wasn’t for me; I want a family and a career one day, and felt that it would be very difficult to return to normality after such a long time on the road. She probably never wanted to return though..
